Capital City – Copenhagen

The flag of Denmark is known as “Dannebrog,” meaning “the cloth of the Danes” or “the Danish cloth.” The flag shows a white cross which extends to the edges of the flag, on a red background. Legend tells us that the cross on the red ground came down from heaven as a sign to King Valdemar II before the Battle of Lyndanise against the Estonians in 1219.
